NXT Takeover: Rival Predictions and Thoughts

So WWE really is planning another NXT live two hour special ahead of what only promises to be a mediocre at best WWE pay-per-view?  #FastLane   Whatever these so-called creatives are on shouldn't be legal.     Anyway, onto what should be a most excellent show.

Baron Corbin vs. Bull Dempsey *No DQ*

For those not watching NXT, Baron Corbin has defeated Bull Dempsey twice now.   The first time was in a singles match because the two undefeated monsters had to square off like Godzilla vs. King Kong.   The second time was a first round match up in the #1 Contenders Tournament, though Dempsey cost Corbin his second round match in that Tournament against Adrian Neville, the only tarnished loss on the record of Baron Corbin.

When this match was announced on NXT all I could think of was what would happen after Wrestlemania.   Imagine if you will a world where Brock Lesnar goes back to UFC or at least leaves WWE for a little bit.   Paul Heyman will stay and have to finally face his enemies without any back up... Until he leads a new revolution of NXT stars on the main roster.   But why does Heyman need a stable?  Wouldn't a tag team suffice?   How about a tag team of Baron Corbin and Bull Dempsey.   Think about that for a moment.

This match itself is going to hit hard.   Baron Corbin has already had his undefeated streak tarnished so he might pick up a loss here but I'm really hoping that Bull Dempsey picks up his third and final loss to Corbin then goes on to do something else.    It's nice seeing these two fight, but I'd rather they do something else.

Also, shout out to Rene Young for helping show just how tall Baron Corbin really is.   Wow.   Corbin needs to either be NXT Champion or called up to the main roster.    Same with Dempsey, but at the same time I don't want to lose my NXT roster that I've come to love more than anyone on the WWE main roster.

Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Becky Lynch *NXT Women's Championship Match*

Regardless of who wins this match, it's time for Charlotte to go fade into nothingness on the main roster because I'm tired of seeing her in NXT.   She had a good match with Sasha Banks at the last live special, but I'm so sick of her portraying a babyface when she should just be booed and play the much more natural heel.   When your daddy is Ric Flair, it is natural for you to be the heel just because of your lineage and his being primarily one throughout his career.

I'm pretty sure that this is an elimination style match which means that Bayley won't win by pinning someone who isn't Charlotte but how about this for an idea: How about the three challengers all decide it is time for a change and they gang up to eliminate Charlotte first?    Because I really don't care who the new champion is here I just want to see a new champion.

On a side note, Enzo Amore and Big Cass are the most over act in all of WWE right now and the most over I've seen since the FBI in the original ECW, so where are they and Carmella on this show?  I particularly enjoyed how Carmella told the crowd this past Wednesday that Blue Pants had gone back to the clearance rack, which only means we'll see her again soon enough.

Yes, Emma might have lost to Carmella and might be on her way back down the dancing ladder or whatever, but if we can somehow have Blue Pants as NXT Women's Champion before the end of the year I'll be fine.      For this match though, let's say that Sasha Banks gets the pinfall of Charlotte, Banks pins Becky Lynch as well but she cannot overcome all the odds as Bayley pins Banks to win the title.    This keeps true to Bayley never really pinning Charlotte and it still manages to keep issues between, well, all four of these women.

Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy vs. Lucha Dragons *NXT Tag Team Championship*

Blake & Murphy- who look virtually the same- shocked everyone by defeating the Lucha Dragons for the tag team titles.   I'm okay with it though, as it hopefully just means we can see the Lucha Dragons on the WWE main roster by Wrestlemania.   I'm not as hesitant for them to transfer over because Sin Cara is already sometimes on the main roster anyway.

So if Murphy & Blake keep the titles here- and why shouldn't they- then they can go into a feud with either Enzo Amore and Big Cass or maybe the Vaudevillains can resurface as well.    Either way, NXT has a decent enough tag team division that they should be able to do without the Lucha Dragons.

Oh, and for the record, one of the two tag team champions does in fact look like Donal Logue but I can never remember which one.

Finn Balor vs. Adrian Neville *#1 Contender Tournament Finals*

This #1 Contender Tournament has made each episode of NXT this year seem bigger than most WWE pay-per-views.    It's odd that the brackets would have it lined up though where Finn Balor faced off against Hideo Itami in the semi-finals and not the finals, but if you search for Prince Devitt vs. Pac on YouTube you'll see that this match can be quite good if given the proper time frame.

The thing about this match is a lot of it depends upon who is the champion after the next match, but at the same time I'm just going to be pulling for Finn Balor to win if only because it's time for someone else to be in the title picture and that person is not Adrian Neville again.

Having Hideo Itami cost Balor this match as sour grapes and turn Itami heel would also be a bad move, so let's have a great match and give Finn Balor the clear and decisive victory.

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens *NXT Championship Match*

My question about this match is why would they seemingly catapult Kevin Owens right to the title shot if he was going to lose?   Sami Zayn can go back to being the underdog loser because I expect Owens to come out with the title here.      To me, really, Kevin Owens should have shook up the WWE Universe by entering and winning the Royal Rumble last month then main eventing Wrestlemania against Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.    But since that didn't happen I'll stick with this.

Oh, and a summer of Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor will outshine most anything else in professional wrestling today so WWE: BOOK IT.
